Get Him To The Greek

Get Him To The Greek is my subject of choice. I had been wanting to see it since I first saw the commercials as I love Russel Brand as well as Jonah Hill. Be warned, there are some spoilers, a little. I think.

Synopsis: After Sergio (P. Diddy) announces that the music industry is failing, he calls for a meeting with his associates. At his meeting, Aaron Green (Superbad's Jonah Hill) comes up with an idea to invite Aldous Snow(Forgetting Sarah Marshall's Russel Brand) to a reunion concert to boost sales. Aldous used to be the pinnacle of rock until the release of his album African Child. This album was actually rated as the third worst thing for Africans. It was below famine and war. Anyhow, the rest of the movie involves Aaron trying to get drugged up Aldous to this concert, on the way he gets drugged, hit by cars, and just run into the ground.

Review I LOVED THIS MOVIE. This movie was absolutely hilarious. Russel Brand does a beautiful job of playing this drugged up, washed out, rockstar. Even Better was Jonah Hill's work. The man was so funny just trying to keep up with the crazy things that Russel threw at him. I was annoyed though. The ad campaigns were horrible. They had all these scenes that weren't even in the movie. Not in the credits, or after or anything! For example: This commercial.

There was absolutely no scene where P. Diddy says anything about the adrenaline needle. Anyhow, that aside, It was a good movie. Let's see the breakdown.

Acting: As mentioned numerous times before, Jonah Hill and Russel Brand were a fantastic duo. They just did an absolutely superb job. 5/5
Plot: Though I can't think of any examples, I seem to recall this idea being recycled, but it managed to keep it interesting. So 4/5
Script: This movie had hilarious dalogue with some great catch lines. My favorite is when after being told to smoke this weird drug, he then strokes a furry wall. It was awesome. But, I was annoyed with the excessive swearing. So 4/5
Directing Style: The director.Nicholas Stoller, is the same director of forgetting Sarah Marshall. So naturally, the directing style is quite similar. Both of these movies have a lot of sex references but are still really funny. 4/5
Cast I've already mentioned this but the cast was outstanding. They all did great, but I was a little surprised at the new Jonah Hill. He really grew up, but also got much fatter. But I suppose that happens with age. Russle, though, has managed to stay the same as he was in Forgetting Sarah Marshal. They even make several mentions to that movie. 5/5

So overall Get Him to The Greek got 22/25, which is still a great score. The only downsides was the constant obscenities, making a movie you wouldn't see with your mother. I highly recommend this one
